Artist Biography

My journey in art began like so many others, in childhood drawing whatever looked amazing, in my case, mostly horses and dinosaurs. When I grew up, my first formal art training came from local artist Harold Burton. I learned so much from him, and I felt I was making good progress when he simply looked at my work and told me to “Carry on.” So, I did, exploring different mediums, supports and subjects for my work. Also, I took workshops, joined art groups and participated in art shows. Currently, I am experimenting with water mixable oils which I find give me a different effect in the painting. I feel every painting I do is a journey and I am always learning along the way. I have also joined the Windsor & Essex County Plein Air artist group and was painting on location, a very rewarding experience. Inspiration comes in many forms, I am also an avid photographer, an art in itself. On vacation or locally here in southern Ontario, there is always something striking to photograph and/or paint. I have also done many pet portraits as well as other commissioned paintings. I joined the Art Society of Kingsville in 2018 and the energy and inspiration in this group is amazing. The next phase of my artistic journey is on the horizon.
