Kelsey has always been a creative spirit but her signature, impressionistic painting style emerged while studying Visual Arts and Communication Studies at the University of Windsor, where she graduated with Honours in 2011. She went on to receive a high honours diploma in Interior Decorating from Sheridan College in 2014. Since graduation, she has participated in numerous arts shows and events around Southwestern Ontario. She won a special merit award from The Marketer Art Competition 2020. Kelsey offers group art classes, and also works privately mentoring students with special needs. She hopes to inspire everyone to lead a creative life.
Kelsey’s work explores a variety of subjects from landscapes to portraits and animals. She uses oil paint with a combination of palette knife, brush strokes, and dripping to create depth, texture, and dynamic movement in all of her artwork.
A continual focus of her work is a connection between sadness and despair with hope and joy. Mental illness has touched her life in many ways and she strives to understand the deep longing and aching soul within her and that connection with others. Moody, nostalgic, longing, and connection are some words that describe her work as an artist.
